FROM JAKARTA TO TÜRKIYE: 18 STUDENTS OF SMP MUHAMMADIYAH 1 JAKARTA BEGIN THEIR BIG DREAMS AT GENCLIK KAMPI FESTIVALI 2026
Jakarta, 22 August 2026 – "Never belittle a big dream, because something big starts from a big dream. And we are ready to be your bridge to achieve your big dreams."

That inspiring remark opened the series of events at Genclik Kampi Festivali 2026, held at Yunus Emre Enstitusu, Jakarta. More than just an ordinary festival, the event served as a gateway for 18 students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Jakarta to get to know Türkiye more closely, not merely as a tourist destination, but as a home rich in culture, cross-country friendship, and educational scholarship opportunities in Türkiye.

Carrying the theme "Bridging Indonesia and Türkiye through Culture, Friendship, and Educational Opportunities", Genclik Kampi Festivali 2026 offered students a first-hand experience of the atmosphere of Türkiye without ever having to leave Jakarta.

Each agenda item was designed not only to entertain, but to inspire. It began with a Talk Show entitled "My Journey as a Türkiye Scholarship Student", where students heard directly from real-life recipients of Türkiye scholarships about how their dreams carried them to the land of two continents. This session was followed by an "Introduction to Yunus Emre Enstitusu", the Turkish cultural centre that has become a cultural bridge in various parts of the world.

The atmosphere grew ever more serene when Turkish Poetry Recitation was read aloud, bringing with it the rich and meaningful nuances of Turkish literature. Not to be missed was the Saz Performance, a showcase of traditional Turkish musical instruments that captivated the students with melodies blending tradition and modernity. As the highlight, the Interactive Language Game invited students to learn Turkish in a fun, laughter, and, full of enthusiasm.

The event was officially opened by Dr. Abdulhamid E?MEL?, Religious Affairs Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Indonesia. In his remarks, he emphasised the importance of big dreams for the younger generation. Also present at the event were: Dr. Cemal Sahin, Director of Yunus Emre Institute Jakarta, and Prof. Dr. Talip KÜÇÜKCAN, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Türkiye.

The presence of these figures served as tangible proof that Indonesia–Türkiye relations are not only forged at the diplomatic level, but also touch the world of education and the younger generation.
For the students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Jakarta, Genclik Kampi Festivali 2026 was not merely a one-day event. It was the first door opening onto a wider world. Through this activity, they not only learned about Turkish culture, but also broadened their horizons regarding the opportunity to pursue their studies in Türkiye through the various scholarships provided by the Turkish government.

"We want our students to be not only clever in the classroom, but also brave enough to dream big and to know how to make those dreams come true," said Fida Afifah, S.Pd, the principal of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Jakarta. This festival is the first step. Who knows that among these 18 students, there may one day be an ambassador, a scientist, or an entrepreneur connecting Indonesia and Türkiye.
